CARAYello Cab and The CARA ProgramHave Drive to Succeed TogetherKaren Tokarczyk, assistant manager of the Call Center at Yello Cab, was feeling the crunch last January. With a tight job market and an expanding department in desperate need for an increasing number of motivated, energetic employees, she needed help. She decided to seek some alternative sources for supplying those people. Enter The CARA Program
Karen has never looked back in the rearview mirrow. The Yellow Cab Call Center now employs eight CARA participants and a strong, ongoing relationship has developed between the company and the social service organization. Karen is a regular speaker at the CARA Program participant training sessions. Her most recent topic was about using internal customer service as a tool for a department to be more productive. "The pre-screening and comprehensive training provided by The CARA Program results in some highly qualified applicants," said Karen. "But the best thing is that they don't stop there. After the employees are on the job, Kemberele (Taylor, corporate account manager at The CARA Program) comes to our facility for training, needs assessments, and coaching. Her follow-up is the key to the success of the relationship." CARA participants have been so productive on their jobs that many are now being cross-trained in other areas, qualifying them for promotions. "The Yellow Cab partnership is a textbook example of how we want The CARA Program to work," said Kemberle. "We help karen select star performers, she works with us to train and motivate them, and we follow-up to help them grow and prosper in their jobs."
